can a ls/gs/se equal a GSR ??
Alright after some thinking and talking ... it seemed to me my friend was an idiot. he was telling me how a good driver in a ls could make up the diff off a gsr. is this total bullshit ?

If the LS driver is good and the GSr driver is bad then yeah. All depends on the mods and the skill. Anything could happen on the street.
it depends on what your doing, autox, road race, drag race, street race.... in most cases a really good driver can make up some for a car with less power. again, you can debate this all day long, until you race someone you don't know.

but say the ls driver is just slightly better than the gsr driver there going in a str8 line and both cars are stock .. the gsr should win right ? i mean it is 30hp diff
What he says is true. Driving ability would be more apparent in AutoX/Track than drag.
Here is an example, you and your GSR friend go to the drag strip
(Speaking in just racing not 1/4 mile times)
You line, up go.. Speaking stock figure wise, the GSR is roughly .6 faster than an LS.
So lets say you get a really good reaction time compaired to him, you got .630 and he got 1.100. You already have four tenths of a second jump on him. Then lets say you get a slightly better launch, and get a 2.3 60' time, where he gets crappy launch with 2.5' . Now you have at least 6 tenths of a second gain on him (I forget the conversion of tenths in the 60' to tenths in the quarter). If left at this, all things equal you both would end in about a tie (with the more power in the high end he would gain on your lead)
Now lets add in shifting, and he doesn't shift as well as you in terms of speed or shift points, so that drops another few tenths. You can easily see that you would reach the finish first.
His 1/4 mile time would obviously be faster because reaction time isn't factored in, but you would win the race.
This is just my opinion, but stock no integra ownz when it comes to the drag strip. You would be very surprised at how many family sedans, wagons, soccor mom vehicles, can do better than 15 second quarter miles. What makes integras great drag candidates is the huge aftermarket for the B18 engines.

Yea I have a friend with a 97 GSR,he drives like a dic*,he called some kid out in a bone stock LS,made this kid follow him to a hwy to race.We take off my friend shifts his GSR at like 5800 rpms and thinks he's shifting right ,meanwhile the ls just raped him by about 10 cars.So the driver makes all the difference.I hate when people don't know what there doing, they think the car is gonna explode if they go over 5k rpms
They have no idea thats when the car starts goin.

well a race through 1 and second is all driver skill and can be a toss up but 3rd right through the end the gsr WILL own the ls
3rd is where the GSR is really going to start pulling, but if the LS is already ahead because of reaction, launch, shifting, it might not ketch up.

I'd love to see you beat me in a stock ls vs a stock gsr
When did this ever become a discussion about who can be who in what car?
It's about the possibility of a LS beating a GSR when driving ability is factored in.
Is it? Yes.
No need to get offended or defensive.

I'd like to swap out my third gear for a GSR one if that is even possible.
how many times is this going to be coverd?
blah..do what you want and will, it should be all in good fun either way you look at it
