I have a cel code, but cant tell which code exactly...
i have a cel code, the light flashes 2 long flashes then quickley followed by a short flash would you say this is code 21? my obd2 scanner wont read or access my ecu, i have a b18c5 in it, i am also experiencing the rev limiter engaging at or around 6300 to 6500 rpms..and a high idle......anyone wanna take a stab at a solution...????

your car is in limp mode. refer to the third post in this subforum for your list of codes. i belive that 21 is a vtec solenoid issue. most likely wiring.
ok,...i so now we know whats going on,...how do i clear it or fix it,....i have tried 3 obd2 scanners and none of them will communicate with the car.....
unfortunatly i am not the one that did the swap, so i was thinking that could be a problem also.....which would make sense why there is no communication.....but now i got to go hunting for the obd1 connector to scan and clear the codes....i guess?
its the brown and green wire jumper you would need just use a paper clip or speaker wire and jump it...to clear your code you will have to take the battery terminals off and touch them together for like 10 seconds to reset the ecu
i have never heard of that, but that doesnt sound safe at all. Just pull the fuse out.

as far as i know there is no obd1 scanner.
i have already pulled the fuse and disconected the battery a few times...the code keeps coming back immediatly when you start the car,...the code (21) if thats what it really is, is for VTEC SPOOL SOLENOID VALVE...which makes sense since vtec isnt engaging and the rev limiter is now dropped down to 6300 rpms....has anyone ever experienced this before..and is this the same as the VTEC SOLENOID that i hear goes bad from time to time?
hey....just want to let you guys know ....problem is fixed...here the pin backed out of the clip so at first glance it looked like everything was hooked up and th clip was clipped in tight, but the pin that is secured in the clip backed its way out so it wasnt making contact at all....thanks for all your help.....cel is out and vtec is back....

its safe everyone knows that... just dont be a retard...and what fuse would he pull out...i wanna hear that since theres no reason to pull any fuse out at all
CEL codes can be cleared from the ECU by removal of the under-hood 7.5A BACKUP fuse for ten seconds or more (see service manual). This is easier than disconnecting the battery terminals.

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. Just as I said, its would probably be wiring.
Touching the battery terminals will hurt nothing as long as the car isnt running. Doing this also gets nowwhere though. Pulling the battery terminals off if enough to clear the code.
As for the fuse. Pulling the ECU fuse does the same thing as pulling the battery terminals.
To all of the babies whining about what to do and how to do it. Just shut up.
And yes there are OBD1 scanners out there.....
