Those with 3rd gen 94-01 Integras with both stock shifter AND stock shift ****: please take a measurement for me. Measure from the plastic trim around the base of the shift boot to the top of the shift **** and post up the measurement. Please and thank you.
*edit* with the shifter in neutral.

I never compared my short shifter to my stock shifter when I installed it back in 2001. I'm pretty sure that the upper portion (above the pivot ball) is the same height as stock, but I just want to verify. I have my stock shift **** on my short shifter right now, so I want to compare measurements.

haha had my camera with me so here:
skunk2..cant twist any further

Oem..was getting really tight at this point but still had some twisting room. I did not want to strip the ****'s thread. It reads from 6 3/4 to 7 inches

dang, is that stock shifter? Phat do you have stock shifter? Dang so yours is almost 1/2" lower than Torque's? That's a pretty big difference.
did this comparison a while ago when i had both. sold the worn leather for 20 and got the rubber for 15....cant be any happier!
94-97 on left and 98-01 on right. my car is an 01 and came with the one on the right

side view: 94-97 left, 98-01 right, the 98+ is thicker but height wise theyre the same. it may look taller but i think its the angle

I know I've seen "short shifters" that listed different throw reductions for the different years, 94-97 and 98-01.
The shifter itself isn't actually shorter right? It just uses something that makes you have to move it a shorter distance? If you just shortened the shift lever it would make the throw longer?
Increasing the length of the shifter below the pivot point, decreases the throw. Decreasing the length above it, also decreases throw. The **** needs to move less distance to pivot the shifter the same angle, with less leverage.
The fastline performance shifter increases both, to preserve the original throw while raising the **** position.

hard to see but if you want ill get a better pic in the morning
and i do have a stock **** its down as low as i can get it

Thanks all. This proves what I have suspected: yes my shifter is a cheap aluminum shifter from AutoZone, but the upper portion of the shifter is the same height as the stock shifter. Only the bottom portion of the shifter is longer, which reduces the shifter throw.

While I had my camera/tripod and light set up, I decided to make a new "shifter throw" picture.
As a throwback, here's the one I made years ago with my old Razo shift ****. This **** sat much lower than the stock shift ****:

Now here it is with the stock shift ****, same short shifter:

Looks like your camera may have been a bit higher angling down in your pic. All of ours are in the 6 5/8" to 6 7/8" range.
