Default Possible failure of automatic transmission? --

Hello fellas. I just bought a '95 Acura Integra with an automatic transmission last week from a dishonest cabinet maker, who assured me that this pre-owned Acura ran and drove without fault; boy was he misleading.

Here, watch the video I have compiled which shows the transmission slipping before engagement of any gear:

Thanks to you in advance for any possible recommendations of help!

Bump! Have the same problem with my 94 Integra, can't figure out the problem! Try tightening the throttle body cable, both sides... This helped my Teg little, now it only does it on the last gear, going from third to fourth.

Torque Converter would be my guess, too many neutral drops off of redline.

This transmission performed fine during test-drive but progressively gotten worse with the new days.

The fluid level is at the FULL point on the transmission dipstick but slighlty brown in discoloration. I should change fluid even though it is completely filled?

Some say it will make it worse since the detergents will clean the internals and possibly lose tolerances because of build up. I would get it flushed, all the transmission fluid replaced ~8 quarts.

PROGRESS!:

Have drained and added new transmission fluids to gearbox. A lot of fluid drained out of spout; possibly 5 qts. Was recommended by Acura to add only 2 qts after draining.

-Now slips less, but still very evident!
-Basically, in 3rd gear, then placed under fullest throttle, RPM's fly to redline before downshifting to accelerate. Same goes for 4th, but slips even more before downshifting.

well although honda/acura does not recommend additives you can try adding a additive to see if would help since its already in its current state of problems I don't see how it could get worse or hurt to try. Also They do not perfer flushes because it can strip the luburicants from the clutch packs like stated above, that is true. There is also a filter in the transmission that gets clogged that you could try removing the transmission and removing the case and clean. That will help. Contamination I would think would be the primary reasons for transmission failure. Also another thing I would do is to flush out the cooler from contaminants while replacing the fluid.

Iam not sure where this filter is located in the transmission, but in my freinds 93 accord he cleaned some filter inside the transmission case(I didnt have time to watch him do this whole job) His problem was, which is fixed now, was slipping slightly or hanging up in gears before a harsh engagment or just harsh shifts at times. I have been in the car before and after his repair and It did go away. Still to this day that trans, shifts good for its age.
