I just totalled off my 1988 Honda CRX and am not happy with what the insurance company wants to give me for it. I want your Honest opinion of what you think it is worth. I'm not saying if you wanted to buy it from me and lowball me, I'm saying what you honestly think it is worth in the market based on your knowledge of this market.
The interior was almost stock, exterior was near show quality, Engine was built up a bit, and turbo'd. I ran a 12.5 1/4 mile @ 113mph this year on slicks.

ibtl..i'm trying to do research to find out what other people think it is worth so I have something else to tell the insurance company. This isn't just for the fun of it, I'm asking for help from the community on this one. Where else should I post this instead then?

I hate to say it but unless you had additional coverage on the car, all they have to give you is what the KBB value of the car is. If you can provide recipts for the money you put into the car they may consider reimbursing you.

 

How about the Vehicles For Sale section......or the FS/WTB section.

 

why are there options over 6k? especially all the way up to 20k?

 

the only thing i could say is. "i hope you got it appraised and still have all your receipts" unless you can prove to the insurance company how much you actually put into your car they are only gonna give you KBB price. if it had been appraised that would be a signed legal document that tells full value of your car with all mods. sorry i think you might get somewhere in the woods of 2500 at most. but thats my opinion. anyone else????

I do have $32,000 in receipts ($25K US). I also had it appraised for $10,500 (cad) before I even touched the engine, then i put over 10K into the engine...

I do realize you never get out what you put in, especially in imports..and the market is kinda in a slum..

But I appreciate all of your input guys! Keep it coming.

 

id say your kind of screwed, parting it out would get you much more then what the insurance company could give you. PART IT OUT. and may i ask with $10,000 how you car just runs 12's? my b16a runs mid 13's with a tune, and headers, plus its light....

Instead of bashing the dude give your honest opinion. It may not be your taste and it may be, who knows. He's asking nicely to please give your opinion. With the time and money invested what would you say the car is worth? Besides the hideous body kit, rims and gauges, the car isn't that bad, its clean.

its work $2000*usd* at most to the insurance company....

 

id say around $5k +/-. good lookin car if you tear off all the ricer ****. front end swap and new tail/head lights, stock rear bumper and stock side skirts and this would be a sick car.

 

i'd probaly give u 3k top... maybe less.. i don't care how much you pour into your car.. Your Crx isn't even a SI model... insurance doesn't care if you Modded it, that is your own fault for duping all that money in a crx... i bet insurance will probaly give you 2000 for your car!! not bashing on him, just giving him a honest thought bout his situtation..

I voted for $6k even though it should have been less.

I honestly dont care what your receipts say if you put $26k into that car you got RIPPED IMO!

The car wasnt even completely clean you had to cut off the original sheet metal and have it replaced and I dont care if it was replaced with Honda OEM panels still had to cut into the car and to me once the original sheet metal has been messed with its not even something I want to mess with.

The bodykit is what a fiberglass kit? Most expensive bodykit out there is the like 10 or so piece black widow kit that goes for $2k (which is also ugly btw) you could have went with like the Mugen knock off kit (Wings West) and it would have looked much better. You can get those headlights, bumper lights and corner lights off of Ebay for less than a $100 bucks.

I dont care if you used the most expensive paint in the world to paint it you're NEVER going to get anything near the cost to paint it back.

Yes get rid of somethings on it and it could have been a very nice car engine bay looked nice.

So if you dont mind me asking how much did your insurance company offer you?
