Default Wieght diffrences between integra and civic

I currently have an a 94 integra rs, and was wondering what makes the RS heavier than the 94 civic ex? IIRC, the integra and civic are built on like platforms correct? Seems there's about a 200lb differance between the ex and the rs and am trying to figure out where the extra wieght comes from as the rs is the stripped down teggy. If both were gutted with the same parts removed, would they be comparable in wieght? Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I've been looking on the web and couldn't really find any deffinitive info. Thanks in advance.

Don't keep bumping your topic.

Especially not after half an hour late at night.

Not a problem, I guess no one knows the answer so I'll let it die and check another site.

its obvious if the civic is lighter and you strip them both down the same way the civic was lighter so its still going to be lighter.

I wanted to know if it's because the teg has a heavier interior or what it gains the extra wieght from.

I would say the interior weight is almost the same. You may see a different of 50-75lbs. The initial difference of a 96 ls mt vs. 96 ex cpe mt is 160 pounds in the civics favor. I doubt if they are both stripped down that the Integra will be lighter I would say near the same. I'm not going off any factual basis here so maybe you will find weight numbers from a stripped teg and a stripped civic.

Let us know if you find the answer!!

Will do. I'll keep searching and see what I can find. I don't think the teg would be lighter, but I am thinking they'd be close to the same if the civic had a b series swap.

well I have searched for an hour and here is what I have came up with. Considering you never told us what trim civic vs integra. But I found a nice write up on a 98 integra ls but I had to search quite hard to find different weights of the components in the civic which I'm basing of a 98 ex

Stock curb weight: 2640lbs as listed by Acura for '98 LS 3-dr 5-spd (full tank and fluids)
My curb weight: ~2488lbs (full tank and fluids)
Raceday weight: 2353lbs as verified by corner-weighting scales (with typical amount of fuel held in race, about 1/4 tank)

Front
Air conditioning system removal (-46lbs)
Power steering removal (-17lbs)
Carbon fiber hood (-16lbs)
DC Sports header (-15lbs)
Hawker Genesis battery (-13lbs)
ACT ProLite flywheel (-9.5lbs, rotational)
Intake resonators/piping removal (-7.5lbs)
Cruise control system removal (-4.5lbs)
Intake manifold bracket removal (-2.5lbs)
Glovebox metal panels removal (-2lbs)
Front brake dust shields removal (-0.5lbs, unsprung)
A’pexi S-AFC (+0.5lb)
Type R front lip (+2lbs)
Front strut brace (+2lbs)
Limited slip differential (+3lbs, rotational)
Prelude VTEC calipers (+6lbs, unsprung)
Prelude VTEC rotors (+6lbs, rotational and unsprung)
Total: -114lbs

Middle
Sound deadening tar removal (-12lbs)
Subwoofer wiring removal (-4.5lbs)
Mud and door guards removal (-4lbs)
Exhaust heat shields removal (-2lbs)
Suspension Techniques swaybars (+5lbs)
Total: -17.5lbs

Rear
Trunk floorboard removal (-8lbs)
Rear wiper and motor removal (-3.5lbs)
Honda S2000 antenna (-1.5lbs)
Center brake light removal (-1lb)
Rear brake dust shields removal (-1lb, unsprung)
Trunk brace (+1lb)
Skunk2 rear strut bar (+2lbs)
Total: -12lbs

Total: -144 lbs (approx. –123lbs from front of car, -21lbs from rear)
Total weight: 2432lbs (1105kg) w/low fuel, 2488lbs w/full tank
Weight distribution improved from approx. 63/37% F/R to 61.5/38.5%

Autocross trim
Remove spare wheel/tire and jack (-25lbs, rear)
Remove rear seats, seat belt buckles, trunk mat, cargo cover, and carpet (-36lbs, rear)
Wheels/tires lighter by 2lbs per corner (-8lbs, middle, rotational and unsprung)
Remove floormats (-10lbs, middle)
Total: -79lbs (approx. -8lbs from front of car, -71lbs from rear)
Raceday weight: 2353lbs (1070kg) w/low fuel

and as far as the numbers I found on the civic I just did the math on the different items I found with indicated weights (that seem legit)

98 Civic EX MT - 1998 Honda Civic EX CPE MT 2504
full interior removal minus the dash and driver seat - 2279
1/4 tank of gas equals 20lbs 2299
full tank of gas equals 82lbs 2381

But until someone does a full write up of weight reduction for a civic (testing every items weight) then we wont have a full comparison, but from the numbers I gathered you can manage to trim around 75lbs more off an integra than a civic.

Very informative. Thanks for the info. I will do more searching to see if I can add anything. Once again, Thanks.
