b16 valve stem seal removal

Default b16 valve stem seal removal

Im have trouble removing the stem seals on my b16. They wont budge. Im grabbing them with pliers and pulling up but no luck. I need some advice from somebody thats done this. Thanks.

you have to use a punch and hammer to get them out. the punch has to be a little smaller than the stem seal so that it'll go threw and wont F up the head.

OP: twist and pull dude, are they all stuck? or is it just a few?

when i did my valve stem seals on my gsr head mine were all stuck. had to use a pick and hammer to cut them off not the best way but it works. and i tried every tool possible fisrt.

you can actually get a valve stem seal puller tool. but if that doesnt work and they're really stuck on there you may have to try something more drastic like what was explained above ^

I forgot to mention the head is still on the car. The seals are rotating but i just cant pull them off the guides. Im gonna try and make my own puller.

I just used pliers and persistance - they eventually all came off

i used the tool shown above as well as making my own tools. i just said screw it they are getting cut off. just try not to screw up the gudies. good luck

If they will spin then they are not seized. I think you need to stop being a ***** and pull harder. You aren't going to break anything other than a seal you plan on replacing anyway. Get a set of locking pliers on them if you can't get a good enough grip with regular ones.
