Ultimate brake setup for Civics?
What is the best setup for street? car is a 95 ej1 with brembo blanks, hawk street pads, SS lines and super blue brake fluid. and stock drums I have been thru Falken Azenis, and a few different types of sticky BFG street tires and no matter what stopping 350whp is not easy. the brakes just get hot and I have to pump like mad to stop fast enough.
I also have a Nissan S14 with 12.8" 350z track rotors, and 300zx 4 pot front calipers, 2 pot rears with 11" rotors, SS lines, bigger master cylinder and the car stops on a dime, so I know what good braking power feel like. Myt civic just doesnt stop.
I had the same kind of setup on my last turbo civic except I also had GSR rear brakes (but this one has drums) and it was the same thing. so clearly stock calipers and rotors are just not enough for stopping a full weight turbo car. please tell me what will actually give me better braking performance, Do I go up to wilwoods, or some other BBK?

Acura RL 4 piston caliper brake setup.
11.8" rotors re-drilled to 4X100
fastbrakes.com caliper bracket kit.
You will need 16" wheels to clear the brakes. If you have stock 10.3" brakes you will be using 12.6" rotors and will need 17" wheels.

So your saying your running only 11.8 because your car didnt come with the 10.3 EX brakes/knuckle? what else did you do? rears?, how does it stop?

yea, I'm running the 11.8" rotors with dx knuckles. I also have integra rear disc brakes. OEM pads all around with SS braided lines and integra 15/16" MC and brake booster. Stops from 60mph-zero in about 4 seconds without stomping on the brakes.
How much are you trying to spend and what wheels are you trying to use?
This is my personal setup on my eg
Front: RSX-S rotors from fastbrakes (11.8), S2K pads and calipers/milled brackets, braided lines
Rear: 02-03 EP3 rotors (10.2) and brackets, the bigger pads (not the tiny ones stock civics and integras use), 9CLP14S calipers (flipped) (97-01 Prelude or RSX/EP3) braided lines
Scarebird drum to disc conversion (it supposed to be convert drums to the small 9.4 rear rotor but i used the above and it fit perfect
)
Integra 1" MC and booster
For me its definitely enough. Very strong, no fade, hauls down so fast no matter what. Plus its all oem except for the Scarebird brackets. And thats without using the HPS pads that ill be using in the summer Oh yeah all this under my 15x7 Motegi Trak-Lites!

Ok
1 where do I find brakets to mount s2k calipers?
2 The RSX-s is 5 lug, So I assume a redrilling is in order?
3 will the ep3 10.2 rotors fit on standard GSR rears?
4 what calipers do you have on the rear? and what bracket did u use?

Trending Topics
1) I said i used the s2k brackets, but you can also use rsx-s brackets as well
2) The fastbrakes rotors are drilled with the 4x100 pattern
3) the 02-03 EP3 rear rotors already come with the 4x100 pattern and mount on ALL integra hubs except Type R
4) As i posted before the caliper i used was from an EP3/BB6 Prelude (9CLP14S). But since they mount on the front of the rotor as opposed to the rear, they have to be flipped (left to the right side, right to the left). This puts the bleeder screw on the bottom, so you'd have to bleed them off the rotor while positioning the caliper to where the bleeder is pointed upwards. It may sound like a hassle but well worth it for me.
Also if you have the stock rear caliper (7CLP14S) you need to tke the parking cable bracket and spring and put them on the 9CLP14S caliper so you can have parking brakes. You could, however, just use your stock caliper with the EP3 rear bracket to use the 10.2 rotors, but its piston is smaller than the EP3/BB6 caliper so pedal feel wont be as nice as it could. if you can find the Type R rear calipers and brackets you can bolt them on with the 10.2 rotors without changing the E-brake mechanisms.

But yeah i didnt throw this out but what trim is your car? If its an EX then the s2k setup will bolt on, but the calipers have to be milled on the portion that mounts to the knuckle, or what i did was trim the other side with a grinder. It doesnt affect anything, but i did have to trim the pad retainers just a tad but it works. No squeaking, no rubbing no problems. And if anything needs replacing i can just go to the store and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it.
And i like the RL setup 2fast4u831 is using. That pedal must feel NIIIIIIIIIIIIICE. The question is how much did those calipers cost you (with the brackets)?
Thumbs up on the RL set Up and the S2000! Sounds too good to be true! What year RL calipers are those? what was done to mount? I need to do this
Thanks for the info!
Thanks bro. You know we cant throw the wrong info out and have some guy or gal buy the wrong stuff and blame us.

ya just looked it up. they're a little bit of money. I would like them, but i think using my free RSX TypeS brakes are more money friendly right now lol..
yea, they are 05+ RL calipers. I got this set for $250. the caliper bracket kit costs around $330 or so. comes with brackets, hardware, re-drilled rotors and hub centering rings and instructions.

I'll tell you what. That has to be THE ultimate kit for the civics and tegs without going extremely overboard. And using the dx knuckle too? Even better for those who dont want to hunt down 10.3 knuckles

Yup, '05+ RL calipers are definately nice. Aluminum body, radial mounted.
at dead cost from Acura, they're only slighter more than the TL-S Brembos, but should be superior (at least in materials used and mounting type). if i recall, i looked them up when i was a parts advisor and they're approx $300~ CAD for each caliper new (at cost).

Legend GS dual piston calipers. I moved the left caliper to the right and right caliper to the left to keep the feeder staying on top. Mine is a 00 EX so I use 11.8' rotor redrill from fastbrake. Rear brake use EP3 setup. The only limitation is the tire. I use Yokohama S drive which is one of the best for 16" wheel.
