Whenever i accelerate briskly my ebrake "BRAKE" light goes on. Kinda of annoying and id like to fix it. I just had my 30k service done, and im thinking when they tightened the cable they did it TOO much. Should i just loosen the cable or could it be something else?

 

Check your brake fluid level.

 

Really? for an E-brake light?

 

yes the brake light doubles as a reservoir level indicator

 

Another option to check is the tension on your ebrake cable. Perhaps if its tight, under acceleration it could trigger it. Most likely brake fluid level as they said. You learn something everyday. Thx for the info on that one.

 

That's funny, this has been happening to me a lot too.

It's not the brake fluid level, and the cap to the resevior is on tight. What else could it be?

 

 

i had the same problem a while ago.. turned out my neuspeed front stb was crushing the wires that lead up to the sensor in the brake fluid reservoir cap. if you have a neuspeed strut bar you may want to check that out

 

I had the problem right after I got my car, it was the brake fluid level

 

...Mine is doing the same... Fluid seems to be fine... since there are no leaks and pressure is fine, I haven't taken the time to investigate farther...

The same thing happened on my dad's car (it was a toyota, though) he took it to a dealer and they said it was a wire. *shrugs*

 

I love when people call the parking brake the E-brake!! pull that thing when you are having an "emergency" and see that situation go from bad to worse!!

As for the problem- I agree with the masses; top off your fluid. I actually had this happen and I had to go a little over max to get it to stop.
