BIG oil issue!
Ok, so I own my '94 GS-R again but while my buddy owned it he spun a main bearing and had to have it replaced. When he did he didn't put the liquid gasket in the correct points on the oil pan so it had a very small leak every so often it would leave a drop here and there. Well the other day I was washing the car and noticed oil on the back bumper and I thought, since my wife normally drives it, that maybe she ran through something. Then I noticed alot more oil spots then usual. Well it was oil change time so two days ago, when I crawled under the car, I was struck by an insanely big oil mess. There is oil on the radiator, all the drivers side suspension, all over the firewall, in the wheel well.....EVERYWHERE on that side of the car from about the oil pan down. Now, is it possible that gasket totally blew out?
Anything is possible, how low was the oil in the engine? It sounds like oil may be dripping on the passenger side axle and it getting flung up and everywhere else.

Actually I think some people will spread a thin layer on the gasket itself just to help hold it in place if the engine is still in the car, until the oil pan is put on.
I replaced my oil pan gasket with the engine on a stand, turned upside down, and I did not use any liquid gasket. However I think I'm still getting a slight leak. I had my Craftsman 5-80 ft-lbs torque wrench set to either 8 or 8.5, but it still looked like the gasket was squishing out around the bolt/nuts when I torqued them.
I really need an inch-lbs torque wrench for this kind of stuff. Spec is 8.2 ft-lbs I think, which would be 98.4 inch-lbs.
