There are no tangible benefits unless you are making over 500hp... MSD ignitions do the same things as the stock ignition. If you want to know what they do "better" go to MSD's website...
its simple it just gives a better spark to your spark plugs, witch means your burning fuel better and getting better combustion. i have a msd coil kit and to be onest it dosent make a big wow differance in performance. i noticed that the car starts up quicker and ther isent any more flat spots when putting the foot down and the throttel response is a little better. but as i said not much of a differance. and i soppose having differant mods will give differant outcomes aswell. im happy with mine dow. BUT by the time you get all parts needed it ante worth it cause its pricey enuf!
Yup, no need unless your making lots of power. You want a nice spark, mod your plugs or buy some Rocket modded plugs and keep the gap facing the intake manifold.
A spark is a spark. As long as it ignites the fuel, the ignition system is fine. If you experience misfiring with a modified engine and the stock ignition system doesn't have worn components, then the MSD systems could be of use.
Why the intake?
Why the intake?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but i was told that the stock honda ignition system could handle up to 500+hp. Obviously you would need to modify other components to make that kind of hp but regardless, if the stock system can supply a sufficient spark for up to 500 hp, the MSD coil is just overkill... Unless you're pushing more than 500 hp of course... no ?

Correct I was just making a more generic statement to make the point that MSD ignition components are completely unnecessary on everything except full race setups...
A normal ignition like the stock Honda one builds up energy by building a magnetic field in the coil, then releases the energy by shutting off the current and making the magnetic field collapse, creating a spark. MSD ignitions store their energy in large capacitors and dump it into the coil to fire the spark. This doesn't always make a hotter spark, but it recharges faster, so it can make a hotter spark if you are revving the engine high enough that the coil doesn't have very much time to build up a magnetic field. It usually makes more sense on a V8 that's been modified to rev higher than stock than on a four banger, since V8s have to make more sparks per rev. As a general rule, if you're not making enough cylinder pressure to blow out your spark or revving the motor past what the stock ignition is capable of, you won't see much benefit from an ignition upgrade.
its an outstanding device. it will fire each plug 5 times (hows that for fast) when u r below 3k rpms and 3 times up to 5k rpms. if you red line alot their rev limiter is bar none. it is well worth visiting the msd web site. but yes - quicker starts - more complete fuel burning - spark levels in the 45k volt range. i have had a model 6al for about 15 yrs. they also make an ignition coil.
MSD ignition boxes are as stated previously, only beneficial on high HP motors and/or older vehicles. Your stock unit is more than substantial. MSD does make many other electrical components such as wires and coils, both of which I use on my current setup.
