Icon2 stupid belt tensioner

so im replacing my waterpump still and i got everything off to get the timing belt cover off but still theres this belt tensioner that is blocking it on..

now its a 14mm i beleive but i think whoever owned it before me stripped the nut that holds on the pully so i cant get it off....

i was thinking of just using those sockets (gator grip i believe they called) that just rip into stipped bolts/nuts and pull em off but at the expense of destroying the nut. so to my question

will any old nut that fits on there be okay to use as a replacement or will i have to get it from honda lol

grrr this is taking much longer to do then i thuoght

any help would be amazing

If it is the one for the ac belt then you should get one from honda then have a large flare on the back to keep them from crushing the bearring

i'd go to the hardware store and match one up and buy it
getting it from the dealer won't help much because they most likely won't have it on hand.

i'd get an omg one from the dealer. I'm very strict when it comes to engine bolts man.

yeah its the nut that holds on the pully and its stripped to hell and up agnst the wheel well so i cant even get the gator grip socket in there

im thinking about just latching on some vise grips and hopeing that they dont strip it even more cuz this @$*%ing "easy job" has been quite lame

and this is the last thing thats stopping me from replacing a stupid $30 part....

I feel your pain on that one they are really hard to get a wrench on to brake loose when they are not stripped. Here is the exploded parts view its #20 you might have to replace #19 also this is the part from a 92-95 civic yours might be diff. You should be able to take out the 2 bolts #23 and remove the pully from the ac comp bracket

so atleast i know for sure that was the problem but 23 bolts were stripped so bad i had to wrench one off with a pair of vise grips

oh well time to put her back in and get the eg runnin again
