Ok so i have a ej1 civic its a 1995 dx model and it has a gsr swap in it...each time i start the car or get on the gas it makes a weird sound...its like a widing/hissing sound..almost like a supercharger..but my car is just stock n/a. Can someone please tell me what this is ?? is it something i should worry about ? Any info would help me a lot. I asked some friends and some told me the timing belt might be to tight...others just dont even know. Can some please help ? Im afraid my motor might mess up if i keep driving it.

is it a whine or a whistle? if you have an aftermarket intake, I've run into plenty of cars with a neat whistle when you accelerate. girlfriends car had one, she got all concerned, i drove it, confirmed noise comming from aftermarket intake.

If its a whine, thats constant and fluctuates (goes up and down) with RPM, a possibility could be a tight timing belt yes. also a bad alternator can make a whining noise too.

without being there, cant properly diagnose a problem with a vehicle ya know? try going to a stock intake arm and boot, if you have one. '

yea it more of a whine......i dont think its the intake because i would have found that...i def think its the whining issue..... thanks for the help dude

 

it could be the alternator....my car used to whine like crazy as i was driving. Turned out to be alternator, it was quiet afterwords.
