12in sub in my hatch??
i was wondering if you guys think a 12 would sound good in the back of my hatch sitting where the spare tire was? or maybe i should go with a 10? either size does anyone know where i can get a really clean stealthy box for my trunk area?
A 10 or 12 in the spare tire well isn't going sound as good as a box that is matched well with the subwoofer... As far as I know you can't buy a spare tire well box, you would have to fabricate your own...
if you build the right size enclosure in your tire well it will sound awesome. heres pics of my old setup.

this is whats going in when my interior all goes back in. it takes the same airspace as the mtx 10 but has more cone area and holds more power.

I got a 10" truck box from Fry's (www.frys.com). Heres how its mounted.
-Cut a 4mm hole in the wall adjacent to where the sub hole is at.
-Align it with the spare tire socket.
-Install the wing nut through the box into its socket.
-Then you install the sub.
This will prevent your sub from moving around and it makes it harder to steal. Also, you wont have to have all of these brackets holding it. Pretty clean and simple install if you ask me. Not a show stopper, but function over form right?

Thats a shitty picture but you get the point. I have a piece of cloth to cover it up so it wont bring too much attention.

OP, where is your spare tire going to be at? I guess if this isn't your DD its okay but if it is i'm not sure you'd want to go with out ur spare.
I have a EJ8 and i'm fine with my JL 8inch sub, not too heavy and still gives you a good thump. I was never a hard core stereo guy so im really happy with my setup.

It all depends on the recommended space for the speaker you pick.. If you're not looking to run a high power 12" it should be okay...
Maybe you could mount a can of fix a flat and paint it like a nos bottle in case you get a flat tire
