Ground Controls or Skunk2's?
I've got a 92 DA GS-R and am looking to buy coilover sleeves to go with my Koni Yellows. I want to know which brand is better overall, Skunk2 or GC. I use my car in day to day driving and usually once a month autoxing. I've been able to find Skunk2's for $280 shipped but the best I can find for GCs is $339 plus shipping. Right now I can almost afford the Skunk2's but not the GCs. Time is really an issue but I want to get the better product. Is it really worth it for the GCs or should I get the Skunk2s? Also does anyone know a better price that I can find GC's for?
GC. no question. reputable spring source. MUCH easier adjustment. whereas i still have yet to determine where skunk gets their springs (its not eibach), and the double locknut absolutely sucks to adjust from my motorcycle experience. any complaints of the cap screw stripping on the GC collar is the owners fault for not using the right driver.
oh and del at http://www.diyracing.com had the best prices on GC kits. are you getting custom rates or stock kits?
I want the stock kit for my car. Tyson, I went to that site but there's no link for GCs. I couldn't find any information about GC's on that site. What do you know about them and can you tell me anything?
try to find out what the stock kit spring rates are for GC and skunk by calling them respectively. del at diyracing is an independent retailer. he set up groupbuys before, he got me my GC, just email him.

my ground contols squeek...actually the front right area. i've checked the motor mounts, replaced the bushings, wd-40 called GC customer service line and although they were very nice they couldnt fix the problem.
looks like ill be in the market for some Tiens HA/SS or Zeal B2/B6 for my autox needs.

Dawson: seriously consider getting custom rates for your car, even if they are not incredibly aggressive. You already have a set set of shocks (Yellows), so paired with the right set of spring rates your car would have a great suspension. I'm just telling you to research before you buy.
I also own the H&R Sports for DAs and the front/ rear spring rate ratio is far less than ideal (340#/186#), and I'm having a hell of a time combating understeer at the local autocrosses.
Just think about it. Nice looking car by the way...I happen to know exactly how much you like it.

they're both good, the real difference is spring rate choice. with skunk2 you're limited to 6/8/10 kg/mm (350, 450, 560 lbs/"), while GC is pretty much free (i'm not sure if at $339 you get to choose any rate you want or not).
i sell skunk2 and i run them in my cars (del sol and civic hb) both sees extensive amount of track time.
if u go with skunk2 get 450/350 for street use, 560/450 if you like it firm, or 560/560 if you like a fairly neutral handling. per the discussion on here off the shelve koni yellow are good with about 550-600 lbs/" springs.
GC's you get 25 lbs/" increments. not really a big deal IMO. most people tend to make 100 lbs jumps... and anything behind 600 lbs is not really going to be comfortable for street use especially in the rear.
so for your purpose, if you want to save a few bucks go skunk (and still get a solid product), otherwise go GC. down the road you can get eibach ERS springs (or other suppliers too) and run them on skunk coilovers if you want, it's just standard 2.5" ID springs.
