Default hondata question...

I'm buying a 2004 RSX-S possibly tomorrow. The car looks great cosmetically and mechanically. I wanted to buy it completely stock, but the owner says it has hondata reflashed. Now, I don't know much about that area but is there anything I should take a second look at? The owner claims he bought it used from the dealer that way.

why would he do the reflash on a stock set-up? Look for any missing nuts bolts or tie downs that would suggest parts have been taken in and out or replaced.

The k100 is a circuit board that is installed in your ECU in a similar fashion to the K-Series programmable ECU (K-Pro) at a lower cost. It allows your Hondata dealer to install a custom flash program based off any of the programs supplied with the K-Pro or any program of their own design. A dealer can also custom tune, using their K-Pro, a map specifically tailored for the customers car.

Unlike the K-Pro, the k100 does not have datalogging nor does it have programming capability. Programming and installation are done by your Hondata dealer.

But it's not found in North America for some lame reason. So the TS shouldn't have k100. Just one of the reflashes they offer.

Thanks for the info... but having that K100 seems kinda of a waste of money when you just might as well get the KPRO

any reflash seems like a waste to me.... k-pro is the best way to go. Just save up and buy it, you won't be disappointed.

It really doesn't matter to me. I'm not too into racing.

it has 85K on it.

Everything seems to be in great condition though.

Its only available in overseas... and its a complete waste of time!

You can't tune it, it's the dealer that creates his own flash and installs it... Best would be to save for KPRO!

Like the old saying goes if you're going to do it, do it right the first time or don't do it at all!

Safe for kpro if you plan to modify internals and/or bolt on's!

The reflash is nice if you only have mild modifications, ie: a header and intake. The reflash will adjust your fuel, ignition, etc. to run best with those mods. If you are planning to continue modifying the engine, you should step up to Kpro as it will allow it to easily be tuned for any mods you decide to try..
