Default AWD Drive in a civic?

Looking around I seen some videos of guys in these old civic wagons stateing that had awd.
IS this true AWD or is it just like power goes to the rear wheels once the car detects that the front wheels have lost traction?

IF so, is it possible to transfer this to a 97 civic HB?

This might be a dumb question but I was just curious.

yeah have fun with that one... easier than the wagons awd would be a crv setup, which is still gonna cost u about $5k plus ur gonna need to use the CRV tranny, which well yeah, u can imagine... "blowsssssssssss"
