you might be able to find OEM at the junk yard that are still in good condition, i've never used the aftermarket ones but i'm sure they work fine.

Trunk struts wear out after anywhere from six to ten years. I wouldn't get ones from a junkyard, because they'll probably wear out soon.

If you don't want to buy new ones, you can send yours to this guy who rebuilds them, and you can save a few bucks. Since the OP is north of the 49th Parallel, he doesn't even have to send them across the border, ay?

I don't know about the ones in the link you posted, but I hate when they charge an exorbitant handling charge on top of a semi-exorbitant shipping charge, grrr...

P.S. The stock ones do indeed list for $80.80 (USD) each (part number 74870-ST7-306, STAY ASSY., L. TAILGATE OPEN). Delray Acura sells them for $64.64 each.

Ya I wouldn't bother with used ones, the Acura dealer wants $120CAD for one up here in canada. I had phoned many parts stores nobody seems to be able to get there hands on any..

I got some off ebay and after installing them I thought the hatch was going to fly off when opening it. I took one of the old ones off and have one old OEM one and a new aftermarket one and it's tolerable now. If I had to do it again I would send the original ones off to be rebuilt.

I finally founds found a parts store that could get there hands on them. NAPA for $70CAD for one. which is better then $120 for the OEM ones. Fitment was good and work excellent.

I found a nice little write up on how to install them

Either get them from a junkyard, or find some from a car that is being parted out in your local area, or just buy some new for as cheap as you can find.
