Default OBD2 Engine Harness? Del Sol, EK?

I have a 96 honda del sol shell. It didnt come with an engine harness. The car is OBD2a...

Would an engine harness from a 96-98 Ek work? what about 99-00?

Thanks

Thats what i'd like to know... I haven't had the opportunity to look at a '96 - '97 Del Sol engine bay (they just weren't very common here) I don't know if they're 1 piece like the '96 - '00 civics, or 2 piece like the '92 - '95 civics and '94 - '01 integras. Are the ECU plugs there? Shock tower plugs? pics of the passenger's side of the engine bay?

Thank you. This confirms what I had suspected. If you are using an OBD2 enigne, use a '96 - '01 integra harness ('96 - '99 is preferable, you need to wire in the tach signal wires on the '00 - '01 harnesses) if you are using an OBD1 engine use a '92 - '95 civic harness (except CX or '92 - '93 DX/LX) or a '94 - '95 integra harness.

What about the EK harness? no good??

and if I use a obd1 motor, I need an OBD1 harness? will it hook up inside the car properly, I was just told to use obd2 harness and get jumpers for the alternator, and whatever engine components that needs to be converted over...

Seems like you posted the Easiest/Simplest solutions, I just wonder if its too good to be true.

Can anyone confirm? I am about to order the appropriate harness.

Thanks!!

Exactly. Its a 1 piece design is entirely incompatible with your chassis.

You can do it either way, but using an OBD1 engine harness makes far more sense, it plugs into all the OBD1 engine components and is a direct plug in at the shock tower plugs, you will of course need an OBD2A to OBD1 ECU jumper harness.

There are very often very simple solutions when it comes to honda engine swaps, sometimes they just aren't well publicized, this is one of them. Below are some pics going the other way, car pictured is a '92 civic CX hatchback, with a USDM '98 OBD2A ITR engine harness, it illustrates how the OBD2 engine harness will plug into an OBD1 chassis harness and vice versa. Yes, you have an extra plug, if I remember correctly the OBD2 integras do as well, most likely its for the CKF sensor (OBD1 engines don't have them, nor do JDM OBD2 engines) simply let the plug hang in the engine bay. What trim level was the Del Sol btw, if it was an S you will need to move a couple of pins around at the ECU plugs so the IACV works correctly.

Good question, and unfortunately one I can't answer, although it *should* take care of the ECU end of things, leaving you with the shock tower plugs (which you wont find any info on, the only thing it applies to are '96 - '97 Del Sol S's and '96 - '97 Del Sol Si automatics) although if you follow the wire colors (confirming with a multimeter set to ohms you should be able to figure out whats what pretty easily. It would be greatly appriciated if you document what you do.

I found a guy with the original Harness for my car, I have to wire in the dual stage vtec for this right? the motor is the 96-00 OBD2 jdm D15B.
lastly I have a 95 OBD1 del sol S harness.

OBD1 Del Sol harness should be your last choice. I'm torn between the OBD2 Del Sol and GS-R harness though. Only because i'm not sure how the IACV stuff is pinned out on the Del Sol shock tower plug. with the GS-R harness you will need to wire one additional vtec solenoid, with the GS-R harness you will need to preform the IACV fix at both the ECU and the engine harness end as well as wire both vtec solenoids. In the end it wont make much difference, just stay away from the OBD1 harness. You also need the uber rare P2J ecu for that engine btw, they aren't easy to find.

Its set up for fuel economy and power. vtec-e -> regular sohc non vtec 16 valve mode -> sohc vtec.

Note sure about the transmission code right off the top of my head. If I think of something later i'll post it though.

Quick Question, since the p2J is like the only ECU to run the 3 stage vtec, What options do I have when I decide to turbo??
