Some people have been happy, some people got rotten rebuilds. You get what you pay for.

at one point people were not happy, but he has some good customer service lately. I saw a thread where the customers turbo wasn't repaired right, and he upgraded it to support more power for free and it worked great. I'll be sending my garrett to him.

i sent a turbo up there for a rebuild a few years ago. got it back and it still smoked like a bastard. after a long phonecall and me struggling to pick through his accent, they took it back and rebuilt it again. works like a charm now.

I've sent him about 7 different turbo's, mine and some of the local kids turbo's around here. 4 out of the 7 have worked again after we got them back.. out of the other 3 that didn't , 2 died in a week's time, and one lasted about 2 months (weekend driving only).

It's a toss-up, if the amount of damage causes the repairs to come anywhere near the cost of a new turbo.. just get the new turbo.

Yea, he gives you a warrenty on them but the problem is your still gonna pay shipping both ways again & again and that add's up pretty quick when sending internationaly to Canada

I bought a rebuilt turbo from them and upon the first start up it started to smoke. Sent it back to them, they "fixed" it, I installed it and it lasted about a month and it did the samething again.

my 57-trim was rebuilt by blast. its been 6 months or so and everything is not that bad. occasionally it will smoke on startup but it goes away and wont happen for weeks/months. it doesnt bother me that much so i just leave it alone unless it gets worse.

i agree with others. just buy a new one. you might save 2-300 bucks with a rebuild but a new one is the best choice.

I had my turbo rebuilt them.
Used it and sold it and never got a phone call from the guy or any complaints.

Never had a issue with my turbo and they were very prompt with emailing/calling me on updates.

Had my Garrett rebuilt by Gillaume aka: Blaast, worked great! good pricing too. Friend of mine bought a reman t3/t4 from there and its been good too!! I live in Canada, so its no hassle for any customs crap - maybe some US guys might have a longer wait/border fees. Thumbs up from me!!

It's not the fees they're worried about. It's the fact that half their rebuilds fail w/in a month. Even if they re-fix it, you're still out a turbo that much longer. Time = money to most people...

Just as a comparo with another rebuilder, A local friend of mine sent his turbo out to a major rebuilder out in western Canada (NOT Blaast), and the cost was about triple of what blaast is charging, and his turbo went back no less than FOUR times! Oil consumption right from startup, or within a day or so. I'm not sure what other rebuild companies "failure rate" is, but I would be curious to find out. I can totally see how sending your turbo back and forth would become a major PITA, especially if its US to Canada, or the other way around. I see the big "anti Blaast" thread on here, but I would like to know how he stacks up against some other turbo rebuilders before making any judgement. Personally, I've been happy with my dealings with Blaast, and he seems to be beating out the one alternative I have to compare against.

sometimes i wonder if its even worth it to get a turbo rebuilt. i mean, i don't know the costs on every brand new unit, but the price some people pay to get them rebuilt, you can get a new one. know what i mean? for instance. a master power t3/t4 60-1 brand new in the box is only a $500 turbo. great performance, great background, yet people will pay that and even more to get a garrett or turbonetics rebuilt. is this honestly cost effective?
