anyone ever had a pilot bearing come out
just fired up that type r swap and ran it around. pulls great, everything is peachy. well after a couple of miles this grind devolops in the transmission that reminds me of the last clutch i broke. a buddy of mine who helped remembers that he forgot to hammer in the pilot bearing which of course would make sense with what we experienced. i'm pulling the tranny tomorrow but am curious if anyone has ever had one fail & if so did it take the clutch with it?
Must of been a nice joy ride.
I doubt it the pilot bearing. When I hammered mine in, it still had some slack, but once the flywheel was installed, everything tightened up fine.
It's probaly your clutch out again.

ahhh..dollars fly out of this car. i'll pull the tranny in the morning and take a look. clatters like hell when you start it. push in the clutch and it quiets right up, of course there is this nasty vibration when you try to push the clutch in. but hey, the JDM R motor idles perfectly and ran great for the 2 miles i drove it. those things are seriously fast for a stock 1.8L motor.
just a few months ago i had half of the friction material come off the clutch in my corvette and it acted just like this. i have no idea what the deal is with my foot and organic clutches.

The pilot bearing I just put in my ClutchMasters flywheel just dropped right in with no resistance, no hammer needed, yet I haven't had any problems in the ~10K miles it's been since I replaced it.
