ok where should i start i have a 98 integra the hood wont open i jacked up the car and i took a look from underneath and i can see the hood latch when i pull on the lever from in the car i see the cable is connected to a spring it pulls by the hood... but nothing else happends?

now to my battery, the car was sitting for awhile and im in Toronto we're having some really cold weather, the car was sitting since sept but i turned it on atleast once a month and it started 1st key, when the cold weather came in about 2 weeks ago i tried to start it, it wouldnt start so i push started it and it came on, let it run for 30min took it off started it back everything was ok, now 2 days ago i tried to start the car back .. because im putting it back on the road, it wouldnt start .. i had to push start it again... i let the car run for about 1hour + i drove it to my friends house about 20min away.... took it off on his driveway and tried to turn it back on ... nothing .. it just makes a click, im wondering if i should take this on a long run to try and charge up the battery? what shuold i do?

i just did that its still not working!!!!!! i also had my friend pull the lever inside the car while i was pulling on the cable from the wheel liner spot, nothing happend, when i look under the car while my friend pulls the lever it pulls the spring for the latch but when he pulls from where the wheelliner is it doesnt, it seems that the cable, has another cable which runs inside of it, im frustrated with this integra!!! also the battery problem.. do you guys think it could be something other then the battery giving it that problems .. when i turn the key ... i hear a click and then nothing the engine doesnt turn over

 

If the hood latch is moving and not opening, it could simply be stuck. Does the release have any resistance? If so, try to hit the hood latch with a long rod or piece of wood from underneath to unjam it.

You can also charge the battery through the cigarette lighter.

 

That battery is finished. The car ran for an hour and didn't charge it. Replace the battery. As for getting your hood open, try pushing and pulling on the hood while someone holds the hood release open.

The clicking your hearing is the solenoid bringing the electrical contacts together to make the starter turn, but without enough power in that battery, the starter won't turn, but you hear the solenoid trying to make it go.

 

if its that cold you may have some ice in ur latch take a can of carb cleaner and try to hit ur latch with it if that dont work try jiggling the hood while a friend pulls the release it may take some work but that almost alway works. If that doesnt work i think the latch its on the lower kick pannel i cant remember but anyway get the latch so wen you pull it u can see some of the cable exposed take a vice grips and give the cable a goood yank and dont worry about ruining ur cable its already streched that why it not opening. ull proly want to replace ur cable. I used to work at a body shop in wisconsin so i now wat the cold can do to ur car. Try the first two and if neither work use the third as a last resort.

 

thank all of you i appreciate your help, the hood still wont open! i think im going to push start the car and take it to a body shop to have the hood opened but thank you all for your help, goes to show there is still kind people left in this world

 

No!!! You can do it! Give it heck! Get crazy with it. Act like a gorilla and bang on with a rubber mallet/your hands while your friend pulls the chord. Spray whatever parts you see with a lot of WD-40, spray a whole bottle if you have to. Give it one more gusto before you pay the man! LOL. Good luck!
