take a gander through this thread..

you'll need pinouts to match your stock wires to the new clusters plugs. and if its a newer cluster with an electronic vss reading you'll then need to install and wire up an electronic vss, in place of your stock cable unit.

it uses an electronic vss reading. only thing that remained cable was 88-91 civics, and the DA teg. anything like 92 or newer is going to be electronic. wiring up the vss isn't hard though. if you're going to be moving all the other wires around, might as well do an elec. vss too. one wire is ground, another wire you run to ign power, and the last wire you tie into the clusters speedo input, as well as the original wire that went back to your ecu so it will know your speed. so long as you get each stock wire color to its corresponding new color on the new cluster plugs, you'll be fine.

how do u install the VSS itself? its as easy as just wiring it in? its not a unit that needs attached to anything?

the vss is pretty easy to swap. its on the back side tranny toward firewall it has a 10mm bolt holding it. remove bolt and turn vss back and forth and pull up.

make sure when you get the electronic vss you get the plug for it. The whole swap is pretty easy.

if you got a d series engine you'll need the vss off of a d series engine if you got a b series you need it off of a b series engine

close, but no cigar. both d and b-series utilize an obd1 d-series sensor.
