Default Two impotant questions

I took my 06 Rsx Type s to the dealership the other day and they told me i need a new clutch. Well first how can i check to make sure i need a new clutch. i mean it is soft and i have to push the clutch to the floor to shift but idk.

Second when i shift into second i hear a rattling noise. What could this be? i was thinking tranny but idk

wait, you were shifting without putting the clutch all the way down before? i've always fully stepped on my clutch pedal when i shifted.

you can check by putting the car in 6th at cruising speeds and you floor it... if the rpms go up with out the speeds going up then the clutch is finished...
Also if you have to give more throttle when you get out of 1st you know that its starting to go!

rattling noise could be from a bad spring in the clutch or from a bad throw out bearing. Without hearing it myself I can say for sure. Clutch's can just go bad...do you drive a lot in a big city? lots of stop go action... or do you race a lot?

Either way it's not that hard to swap a clutch. Couple of hours
