Default Aftermarket sunroof problem...

I recently bought a 90 CRX DX. These obviously don't come with sunroofs. The person before me put an aftermarket sunroof in it. It's just a hole cut in the roof with a basic plastic frame with plexi-glass in it. The plexi-glass came off like a rocket on the highway and shattered in the middle of the road. (lol) While in the process of trying to take out the sunroof, I took out the headliner and all the other small bullshit things, I find that the plastic frame is held onto the roof with some type of black silicone. I tried for about 20 minutes to get a flat-head between the roof and the plastic, but I failed miserably. What should I do to separate them without breaking the plastic frame? Keep in mind, I'm from Massachusetts, so it's been around 30 degrees every day for the past two months and we still have another few months to go of the same weather. Any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
