Im making a custom ram air setup with my CAI and ive got to make a box to go around the filter. Anyway...ive got some 22 guage sheet metal that im gonna use to do it...me question is can i use solder it piece it together? Is it strong enough or will it break....its not going to have that much stress put on it. And what is a good soldering method? Ive done it before but on rc cars hooking up wires....never done it with a torch(which is what ill have to do because that iron is too weak) so i dont know how to do it....like how it it should be or anything. Oh yea....ill be taking pics of it and ill post them when im done. Thanks guys.

You could braze it, or solder it, but brazing would be better... Tin work was done for a few centuries with solder-like stuff, but brazing is stronger because the filler has better properties than lead. A local welding supply place should be able to advise you on the type of filler rod and stuff to get...

Doesnt brazing require a hotter torch than your standard one? And the solder that i got says that its lead free and its SUPPOSED to be stronger than the leaded solder....but who knows
What is the brazing process....like how is it different from soldering? Thanks alot.

Just another idea for you: Electronic soldering is not the same as sheetmetal work. The methods need to be different due to the size of the surfaces among other things.
With that said, may I suggest that you create your part and find a sheet metal fabrication shop (like the friendly Heating/AC places that make ductwork and have them complete it for you. Or you can take it to a body shop and they can either braze, stick weld or even TIG weld it for you. If you insist on doing it yourself you will need a torch and filler rods.

For what you are doing I would simply cut the sheet metal with flaps to fold it into the shape of the box you want and use a pop rivet gun to hold together the overlapping pieces. Then you can just fill the gaps with silicon. It won't break.

i was gonna suggest something along the same lines. it may not look as pretty, but it'll be stronger and you won't have to worry about it coming apart.
