Default buyers order?

I wasn't sure if I should post this in the marketplace section but since I just need input I'm hoping this should be alright... Does anyone know if a buyers order is legit in a private party sale? I'm about to buy a car and the guy won't have the title for another month but says a buyers order will work. Scam or am I just over analyzing?

What's up with a buyer's order? The guy is not a dealership or business. Just wait till he has title and buy the car.

All states require a Certificate of Origins for a Dealer's New Car Sale; and depending on the State, some states don't require a Title for a Used Car Sale after a certain age (10 years in some).
I would give no funds (other than a refundable deposit) for the car until the title could be produced.

all you have to do is get him to the dmv with you. first you need a registration or any thing
with the vin and his name stating ownership of the vehicle w/ no lien against it. second fill out the affidavit form for lost/stolen/damaged title. third have him sign it in front of the dvm clerk. fourth (most important step) if he manages to get the title have him sign it over to you. that's all you gotta do. 30min in the dmv is alot faster than 1month of waiting.

depending on your state as well.. a bill of sale can prove to be enough.

whatever you end up doing, make sure you get him to sign something acknowledging you paid him money for the car.
