I just bought a 98 Civic lx. I was going to have keyless entry installed but a friend of mine told me that all Civics come with keyless entry installed in the radio from the factory. It still has the stock radio installed is it at easy as buying a remote and programming it?
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.
some civics have keyless built into the radio. 96-98 2 door ex's do. as far as a four door version someone elso will have to answer or you'll have to pull your radio and look at the back of it to confirm. also honda should be able to tell you by you vin. but no not ALL civics have keyless built in.
all 96-98 civics that came with power locks came with keyless entry afaik.
just pop the radio out and look at the back, if theres a little black antenna and a green wire harness connected, it has it.
then just get a remote from ebay.
if not, go to a junkyard and look for a stock radio that has the keyless antenna, get some remotes from ebay, and you'll get keyless entry for like $50.

It really depends on the model of radio you got. If you get install shop to install it for you, it could cost you about the same to installing an older radio or an aftermarket keyless entry system.
If you're going install keyless entry go for this one http://www.advancedkeys.com/ my buddy install on his civic recently, just say he's loving it.

All 96-98 EX, LX and HX have the keyless entry receiver built into the radio.

Just go to a junkyard, find a radio with the receiver, and ebay a remote or two.
Programming is easy as holding a button down on the radio and pressing a button on the remotes.
