I have a 94 civic ex.... Trying to get a new vss in the damn thing... went to a junkyard, dude gave me this... doesn't look like the one i have in there.... and from pics ive looked at this isn't the vss? ...

 

no thats the speed sensor. At least thats the one i have in my car.

 

that acutally looks like it. there should be a gear on the bottom and that is the VSS (entire thing)

The sensor that I have is showing that is for a 96 and up... the guy at the honda place I got it from said it would work... Is this alright? It looks a little different then the one i have in now... I have a 94 btw.

compare it to urs. Count the teeth...

 

that is a speed sensor for the newer models. you need to get a diff one. yours is two pieces. mine as well just go to an autoparts store for a new one so you know you have a working one. gl

 

Hmm, I don't have the money to buy a new one... so, I'm trying to use this used one... what teeth do you mean? the gear thing?

try taking out the entire sensor out of your trans to see if it'll fit in. your's is a two piece, but just take the whole thing out. gl and let us know how it goes

Right and I don't think the connectors are the same.

 

Yeah, I tried taking out the old one and it is corroded in... so I'm not going to bother trying to get it right now... that way ill just get one I'm sure will fit.... Do you know if yo u can just get the metal part? I don't think the gear part really screws up does it?

 

the connectors are the same the vss connectors are just about the same on most 4 cylinder hondas ive run across, besides the early model accord and civic ones.

 

ya i have 2 speed sensors. The one i just took out (that came in this 99DX tranny that I bought) was a 2 wire one (although its the same plug but it has no middle prong). that failed to work so I borrowed my friends out of his EK until i get mine in. What car comes with a 2 wire one?
