lost 3rd and 4th gears?
sup guys, i have a transmission in which after racing (yea yea but we all do it or have at one time).. it started to grind into third, well for a while i couldn't get it into 3rd so i just skipped that gear, well after a few weeks i started getting to where it would go back into 3rd, but as a trade off i couldn't get it into 4th for some reason!
This struck me as odd but now i can put it where 3rd and 4th should be but there is absolutely nothing there, no grinding, noises, gears, or nothing, when i put it where 3rd or 4th should be its like just a dead spot... i have another tranny but i'm just curious if anyone knows what went wrong on this one?
Someone suggested shift linkage problem.. but i don't think i would have a problem there and i just replaced bushings with polyurethane ones about 2 years ago and they are still holding strong.

The bearings or synchros are shot, maybe the 3/4 shift fork broke. You're looking at a full rebuild of the transmission. Start with the teardown an inspection. Then, decide if you want to fix it or buy a new one.
if going this far into rebuilding the tranny will cost you about $1500 to rebuild, might as well get yourself a type r tranny.used about $1300 better gear ratios and acceleration
hope this helps
