Garwood, NJ - Is there any horsepower to be made in motor oil? This is a very good topic that has been debated by many for quite some time. Nyce1s.com and BYTuning decided to tackle this topic in the first episode of a series of oil tests that will be conducted.

one oil that should've been part of this test is the Torco SR-5 race oil. you'll be surprised at the results if you were to do back to back testing with it.
royal purple would have also been a great choice to use, it has been proven time and time again to be one of the best oils out there, amsoil isnt shabby either.
How would you be able to tell when you have to change your oil? Does it burn (turn black) up like any other oil does? Pardon my ignorance....

This is just round 1 of the oil challenge. We have a few different tests coming up which will include different variables and different types of vehicles. Stay tuned. If you know of an oil company that would like to be involved just let us know!!!
Looks like someone needs to get some ENOS oil. They had there HP challenge, where I believe they said a Viper made 50HP more from just there oil.
I know rota has 5 qt's sitting in the trailer.

Way to go guys!! Very interesting. Makes you think twice about changing your oil between races. You never know 8-10hp can make the difference in a win or loss!
when we use to run royal we would watch the oil pressure gage and the oil pressure would drop at idle. from 40psi to 38psi thats when we knew our time was coming.

yes this is true eneos is a great brand, we wanted people to see even with cheap autozone oil, its a good idea to change your oil frequent. who would ever guess AZ would net an 5whp gain.
Have you put fresh oil that was originally in there back in to see if it made more HP then the old stuff of the same type?
Great info and a thumbs up for the vid...however my only concern regarding the tests was the fact the car was unhooked each time.
I could see how tight the car was cranked down netting a +5whp gain, or loosing whp depending. Not knocking the test, just trying to remove as many variables as possible to keep the results as close as possible.
**In for next round of tests**
