I got a head and block from a friend that a rod broke in and the piston that was connected to that rod came up and hit the head leaving a small lip. I have measued the distance between the wall of the effected chamber and the one next to it and it is the same as the uneffected one.

So my question is, is it at all possible to salvage this head by maybe taking this to a machine shop and have them remove the lip? If so what affect would it have on the motor if any at all? I just want to have the bare minimum removed. Does anyone know how much too much would be to have removed? If they have to remove more than the max I will just wait to get a new one.

 

From that pic, I would say its worth having a good machine shop check it out, I think it looks useable, just a good machine job, and new valves.

 

Picture quality isnt great but looks like it can be fixed Ive seen way worse....send it to machine shop get a quote and go from there
