Default 1990 Honda Accord Vibration

I have a 1990 Honda Accord. Although it has high miles and needs some maintenance now and then it has been A GREAT CAR. I have a problem and have had the car to my mechanic 3 times. He can't find a problem and told me its ok to drive and if it gets worse to bring it in. When the car is cold it is fine but when the temp gauge gets to the normal point, when I start up from a stop sign or light, there is a vibration from either the front end or up there somewhere. Once I get going it seems ok but as soon as I stop or almost stop, there it is again. I also noticed either a vibration or slight bucking (I am paranoid now) when I go over 42-45 mph. My mechanic said he looked at everything under the car, even my tires, rotated them and balanced them. I am a nervous wreck.

Someone at work who has a Honda said it could be something in the intake??? Can anyone help me please? Thank you.

Is this vibration rythmic?
or is it a generalized vibration?
Only during acceleration?
or at idle?
When you've got your foot on the brake?
Have you noticed anything else, which developed recently?

Thank you for responding. It is only at acceleration. Nothing while idling as far as I can tell. It does not do it while my foot is on the brake. The only other thing I noticed when this started was that when I drive above 42-45 I feel either a vibration or slight bucking. I think I'd have to say rythmic as it does it only upon acceleration from a stop or almost stop and when the temp gauge reads at a normal level. If I drive the car while it is cold and the temp gauge reads cold, it doesn't do it.

I hope I am explaining myself ok.

I'll tell you, it's not easy.
A roadtest would actually be easier, but trying to get myself thru these tiny wires is a b***th!

I'm going to go out on a limb, assume your tech is competent and wager you've got a surge condition caused by blocked EGR ports. It's the only thing I can come up with so far that would do this and not show up elsewhere.
Here's a brief primer and repair proceedure. Read it over and see if you agree.

I would agree with the EGR ports. To save your self downtime, pick up a used IM clean that out then swap them over.

Thank you very much. Your post said to get a used IM clean? Then swap them out? Is that correct?

Yes, he's suggesting finding a used duplicate of the intake manifold your F22 requires and refurbishing it before installing it on your engine.
Although you're seeing the additional expense of the used piece, you can do it right while working in a confortable enviroment.
While on the bench it's easier to manipulate and work the cleaning impliments.

I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all the assistance. At least I have a good chance of fixing my baby.

I'll keep you posted. I am dropping it off Sunday night and leaving it all day Monday. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

You guys are the best!

Any results on what you found to be the problem?
I have a 93 accord that vibrates and makes a violent thumping sound, sporadically, from the front end when I accelerate; it seems to do it worse after turning to the left sharply.

My 90 Accord LX does similar, replacing the motor/tranny mounts helped a great deal.
