Default 94 prelude

i have a friend with a 94 prelude and we are having i discussion about the engine he has in it. he says he has a 2.2 non-vtec engine. i think he has a 2.0 non-vtec. does anyone know the answer to this.

94 is 4th gen...
I could be wrong, but I believe its a h22a (vtec)
or H23 (non Vtec)

Pop the hood and look at the engine code on the block..

thats what i thought too. h22 vtec h23 non-vtec. we can't seem to fine the engine code. and maybe im wrong but doesn't the h22 vtec only comes in 5 spd. am i correct. he has a automatic which leads me to believe its a h23 or h20 because it doesn't look like its dohc.

Yup probably this, since there is no 2.0L engine. the engine block below the distributor should read F22A, or is sometimes replaced with the engraving "SLOW"

There is no H20. If it is a DOHC and has vtec written on it then it is a H22 if doesn't have vtec and it is a DOHC then it is a H23 if it is a SOHC then it is a F22a. The code is where the tranny meets the block right below the head on the left side.

Actually guys, there is a 4th gen 2.0 liter. I think it's a Canadian model only or something.
Anyway, if your friend's car came with 14" steel wheels with covers, it's an S. If it's SOHC, it's an S.
If you're really in doubt, take the VIN# to a Honda dealership and they can tell you exactly what it is and I think even when it was made.

Not in Canada there isn't. Canadian Models are only slightly different than the US models. Engines are the same, names are sifferent

S = S = F22
Si = SR = H23
VTEC = SR-V = H22

I think you are right, but no one mentioned it because the guy is from NJ, so it's kind of irrelevant.
