The person I bought my eg hatch from had an aftermarket steering wheel which he removed before I purchased it from him. He then replaced it with a factory wheel, but did not hook up the horn/srs harness. Because the car is more of a toy I removed the remainder of the SRS system including the wiring, sensors, and the srs computer. Now I am left with a dilema. How do I get my horn to work through the steering wheel horn buttons without the airbag wiring plugged in. I did keep all of the SRS wiring, so if need be I can fabricate a harness from the fuse box area plug ins to the wheel. Has anyone ever done this sort of thing? If so clue me in. Thanks!
I messed with this wiring quite a lot when adding cruise control to my DX. You are on the right track. You should be able to use the old SRS cable reel assembly. Get the wiring diagrams and also make a trip to the junkyard and trace the CC, horn, and SRS wires from steering wheel to the under dash connectors as needed. De-pin connectors as needed.
