The h22a4 rods will work fine, but you need to use 5th gen pistons with them.

Very short on cash I can really only afford one rod and don't believe I'll be able to afford switching all pistons and rods to h22a4. So I guess one h22a4 rod in my all h22a1 build will not fly. Thanks.

The way the piston is attached to the rod is different on an a1 and a4. An a1 piston will not work with an a4 rod and vice versa.

+1 The H22A1 are pressed in. The 98-01 H22A4 have floating wrist pins. For some strange reason when Honda made the cross-over they didn't change them in the 97 ludes.

really? good to know. apparently honda decided to try and finish out their stock of parts from the a1 when they built the first a4's. I've heard rumors some 97's have the p13 head as well and not the p5. i've been jipped!

You're thinking about 55mm v. 50mm main journals on the crank. All 5th gen Prelude's had floating-pin rods.

Is there something wrong with your h22a1 rods.

Yeah. The engine spun a rod bearing and the rod was damaged. Crank and block are still good just need to machine the crank. I really need a fix soon. So if anyone knows or has an h22a1 rod or a set of h22a4 rods and pistons please contact me. Thanks!

An H22a1 rod should be something that's easy to find. Acidcrakker had some for sale a while, check with him.
