Example:
37820-ABC-XYZ
Digits-- Meaning--

ABC Engine ECU designed for
X Market of ECU - see chart below
Y 0: 5-speed, 5: Auto
Z even number: "11F0" board, odd number: "1720" board

Code-- Market--

Axx USDM 49-state
Lxx USDM Cali Emissions
xxx JDM
Jxx JDM
9xx JDM (auto)
Gxx EDM
Qxx Oz DM
Cxx Canadian
Nxx usually factory reprogrammed, no particular market
Example:
37820-P28-A52
 P28 = SOHC Vtec D16Z6
 A = US, 49 state
 5 = Auto
 2 = "11F0" board

this is a little off topic but it wouln't let me make a new thread, my dad has a 98 lude 5spd, lately it has been dieing at random times, when it died in gear i could jiggle the key and it would come back on, so i went to honda and bought the electrical part of the switch and then never put it in cause the car quit dieing, well two days ago my dad said it died about 5 times on the way home from work and yesterday morning would not start at all so this morning i replaced the switch and it is still just turning over and not starting up so i pulled all the plugs to make sure they were firing and they were, and its getting fuel because it was shooting flames when i laid the plugs over the holes in the valve cover, i called a guy i sort of know who was a honda mechanic and he said 90 % of the time the ecu has gone bad. If so where is it located and where can i get one cheap? Thanks

the ecu is located on the inside passanger side. you have to pull the carpet back from there you'll be able to see it...

Im not sure if that is the ecu or not, also i pulled the right corner of the carpet up and the is another box under a metal frame that the carpet sits on im not sure it that one is it either. please help my dad needs this car to get to work tomorrow

well i replied but its not showing up so ill do it again.. i got the ecu out and its P5M-L03, so do i have to get one with cali emissions?, or do all the US preludes have cali emission because they are made in japan and shipped to california? , and also do i have to get one that ends with a odd number so it will be the same board???? i looked on ebay and the closest one i could find was 37820 P5M L04 which would mean that it has a different board Please help me guys the car won't start and my dad has to go to work in it
