To fix or not to fix (body damage from 2 accidents in the last 5 days)
Ok, first off: the first accident wasn't my fault (some idiot backed into my car while I was inside) and the second is under review as we speak. Everyone is ok.
Anyways. I have a 97 GSR that has a reconstructed title. I'm trying to figure out what I should do with it. As it sits right now, the front bumper cover is all messed up and isn't really attached on the right side. I really don't know the extent of the damage but it's most likely the bumper, the fender, and maybe the headlights or some of the crap underneath the panels. All in all the car still drives fine.
Also, from the first accident here's the extent of the damage

I went to get an estimate and the one guy said around $1700-$2000 depending on how long it took him to straighten out all the dents.
What I'm really asking for is a guesstimate of how much you think I could get for the car as is. The paint isn't beautiful and it's a reconstructed title. The A/C doesn't work and the ABS is tempermental. Other than that, the engine runs ok (it does burn some oil) and so does the clutch and tranny (grinds a little but it's also 11 years old). It's got a fair share of knicks and dents all over it. The interior is in decent condition (cloth) and pretty much everything else works. It's not beautiful but it still runs and drives fine (it even won an autocross this summer).
It's never going to be a show car but it might be good for racing or something where the paint job isn't essential. I don't know, what do you guys think?
From the first accident I'll be getting around $2000 plus whatever from this accident (probably around $1500-$2000) plus whatever I can get for the car. I'd like to get a Civic or something with cheaper insurance that has A/C.

anything is fixable... if you really like your integra then by all means repair it... but I would let the insurance company from the party take care of the repairs just incase it exceeds 2k... but on the other hand, if you know someone that can fix it for even cheaper then just take the money and refresh the whole car in other ways?
idea..... keep the car, buy urself something with the insurance money and autocross the teggy. Now you got something you can beat on track and a ride to work or school the next day no worries. Just an idea its a perfect autocross car its already dented and dinged no worries. Just an idea. BTW dont fix the body at a shop go to the junk yard find a bumper that color and headlight throw it on ther and touch up any bare metal. With the condition ur car sounds in and the title status fixing tis would be a waste of free money just make it street legal
i don't need an autocross car. i already have a bmw 325is with a full cage that i use for racing. i need a car to drive on the roads that's in good shape. i really don't want to fix this car up because when all is said and done I'm left with a crappy car that has new body panels. it makes more sense to not fix it because i could buy a new car that hasn't been in 3 accidents which has A/C and decent looking paint. I really want to get a civic or something that doesn't have expensive insurance.
i'm actually looking at getting an 89 civic si that's prepped for STS. the insurance is like half of what i'm paying for my gsr. i need to find one that's not in crappy shape though
Dont fix it. Its a waste of time and money. Pull the motor, interior and misc things and trash the rest. You can put all the part into you the civic you are looking for.
