Default Difference between 88 and 90 engine harness

I have been asking this question for quite a while now and a I never seem to get a clear answer.....I wonder if anyone truely knows!!
What is the difference between a 88 CRX DX engine harness and a 90 CRX DX engine harness...
I have been told that there are minor differances but they can't tell me exactly what they are...
Free beer tomorrow to anyone that can answer this with backup!!
Thanks

Well technically there was no "DX" in the CRX model line. It was CRX HF, CRX, CRX Si.

In Canada, there were only two models....

crx (dx)

crx si

As far as i know, the engine harness's are the same. (dx to dx)

Thanks Deetz..
anyone have a different theory? I'm trying to plug a 88 harness (as soon as it arrives)into my 90 crx ...DX
and I was wondering if I was going to run into any trouble. Has anyone done this..or close to this with different year crx harnesses?

not sure but i believe canada crx (dx) are mpfi.
that could cause some confusion. but op, since you already purchased(assuming you already bought it) try it. engine harness isnt to hard to change out.

btw, 99% of ht user refers the 'crx' model to the dx. why? so theres no confusion and questions of "what model is it? hf? si?

Thanks again ef yu...if you told someone outright that you had a crx...thier first question would be .."Which Model?"...this is just a given isn't it?

No! Canada got the same crappy 1.5L with dpfi on the dx model

Only the Si had mpfi here

The true answer is super easy to find out........

Call any Honda dealer, ask them for the part number for the engine wire harness from both years. Same? there's your answer

the engines are exactly the same. every sensor is in the same location, every sensor has the same amount of wires and the wires are in the same location. the ecu's are the same. Honda wouldn't have changed the harness while still using the same parts from the different year models.

there are differences in say the cluster harness and in parts of the chassis harness but it's not where the wires meet but the connectors themselves. but again that's mainly with the cluster. i'm trying to think of any other's but am not coming up with anything off the top of my head.

once again I agree..It seeems so simple a question. Like you said the engines haven't changed. The only other question left would be...Did the wires in the harness change colors? This may be valuable info while doing the swap. I have the 90 electrical manual but not the 88, so I'm not sure...any idea?

why do you have to worry about wire colors? are connectors missing? if not then just plug in the connector where it goes. the color of the wire doesn't change anything as long as you're getting the correct signal from point a to point b.

I'm sorry EFRue57 , i failed to mention that I'm swaping a 94 JDM GSR into this 90 CRX, and well...you can imagine. I have motor and 94 GSR harness but not the orginal 90 car harness...all I could find is a 88 CRX harness..Thats where all these questions stimulate from..But I couldn't come right out and ask that (because I've tried). I had to step back and ask more simple questions to get any kind of response...I guess I was asking too much at one time!!

yes the dx harness will be the same from 88-91....its real simple take the 88 harness, convert it to mpfi, put it on your gsr, bolt it in and call it a day...the majority of your problem will be de pinning and re pinning the new pig tails for the obd1, but im sure you will be able to figure it out...lets just say the 88/90 dx harness questions will be the least of your worries....good luck with the swap!!

no problem, yeah the jumper will make it a lot easier, you will have to repin the dist wiring, its in the faq though at the top of our forum.
