What do you want to do with the car?

How much do you want to spend?

What motor do you have?

How much power did your setup make at the dyno?

I'm not a B-series person, but IIRC J1 has the shortest ratios of those 3. I would think that would be a better choice than the Y1.
For boost it would be different I think. I would think Y1 then - with LSD.
Y1 average at best without the LSD

S1 - JDM or USDM? US is really long gears I think. S1 JDM is similar to the J1.

YS1 (not on your list) would be a win - closest ratios of them all and can be found with optional LSD

See I never knew the difference between them. I am getting ready to pick up a tranny for my b18 soon to be turboed motor. I have found a b16 tranny for it but I cannot remember which it is.
I am also going to install a lsd before putting it in the car. So from your last statement I dont really understand which is the best tranny for me. What do you guys think?

2 second search in google yielded this:

http://hondaswap.com/swap-articles/b...n-guide-29099/

Fairly quick read and interesting.

Also, always check the FAQ before posting, although the B-series transmission list link in there is broken and needs to be updated.

General rule of thumb though, if all you're looking for is the quickest acceleration just go for the shortest geared transmission.

Would have been easier to just tell them to search.

im looking into a 90-93 ls integra trans with 4.9 final and lsd from mfactory.looks like it should sit between the 98 jdm itr and usdm gsr trans at a fraction of cost.

If I'm not mistaking y1, j1 and s1 are all JDM b16 transmission that came from the crx, hatch and integra.
ys1 came for both the b17 and the b18 but both having different gear ratios
a1 is for the integra model ls in cable

The YS1 also came on the 2nd gen JDM B16 from an Integra.......and only "some" of those had the rare option of LSD. I have one myself. IMO, it is the single best b series cable tranny Honda ever made!
