Default Stripped My Alternator Pulley Bolt

I was trying to take off the alternator pulley this evening, and ended up rounding off the 10mm bolt on the pulley... Any suggestions on how to get that off??? I've tried vise grips, but they slip off because with the other wrench behind it, the jaws can't seat very far back on the bolt... I'm thinking a bolt extractor, but if the threads are reversed on the pulley, the extractor might not work... I'm tired of working on it tonight, and I'll continue tomorrow, but I was hoping someone would have a suggestion... Thanks...

i did the same thing on my friend's car. what we did was take a cheap socket and literally smash it onto the stripped bolt with a hammer. this isn't exactly the best way to do it, and i certainly wouldn't advise you to try this, unless you're desperate. the socket has to be cheap, otherwise, it won't conform to the stripped bolt when hammered.

the other way is to have a machine shop drill it out or remove it. if i'm wrong, or anyone with any better suggestions, lay them on me, as i'd like to know a better way.

Get an impact gun and have someone hold the pulley while you hit the nut with the impact gun. No need to use that little thing to try and hold it.

Thanks, J
