Default 91 civic sedan heater problem

New here so dont know to much about this site. I just recently bought a 1991 civic ex sedan and im having trouble with my heat. The heat works and all but its running directly from the fuse box. What I mean is that the person I bought the car from had to run a wire from the blower motor straight to the fuse box. Now if I remove that wire and try to turn the heat on it wont work. I have to keep that wire thier in order for it to work. If I forget to shut it off then it will stay running while the car is off. What do I need to do in order to get this fixed. Any info will be appreciated.
