Default Transmission Questions

I currently have a 90 DX Hatchback with a built Mini-Me Swap. I have the Stock DX 4 Speed Transmission in it. I want a 5 speed. So i know this guy that is going to sell me his CRX SI 5-Speed Transmission. Would this work? Hes including the clutch, flywheel, sensors, brackets, and shift linkage. Am i ok with my stock axles? Will they bolt up? Will the shift Linkage work? Please help. I dont want to buy something and have to spend tons of money on other stuff to include axles adn all. Please Help

the transmission will bolt right in using your mounts, your axles and your shift linkage - if his transmission is not the 88 model, your clutch and flywheel will work and you won't need anything except the transmission - his clutch and flywheel would also work as they are the same - if his is 88, then you will need to use his clutch and flywheel along with your axles and your shift linkage

I was also told from many people that i would have to change axles because of spinds and all. Is that correct or will mine bolt right up? How are the gear ratios in a 88 CRX SI Tranny? Is it going to be good for the 1/4 mile? Are they long?

since the transmission is coming from an 88 model, you will need to get the 88 flywheel and clutch with it (the other option you have is to keep your DX flywheel and pressure plate and just buy an 88 Accord clutch disc) - your axles and shift linkage will work, no problem - all of the 88-91 Si transmissions have the same gearing - the gearing is as short as you can get in a U.S. transmission and is the best to use for 1/4 mile

EDIT: something that should be pointed out is that just because the transmission/clutch/flywheel is coming out of an 88 Si car doesn't necessarily mean it is an 88 transmission/clutch/flywheel - could be that someone swapped transmissions previously and use the 89-91 - for that matter, it doesn't necessarily mean that it is even an Si transmission - unless you know the history of the car and know for sure that the transmission is what it is claimed to be, you should verify what you are buying - Si transmissions are worth more than DX transmissions

FYI - your car is not a DX model if it came originally equipped with a 4 speed transmission - it is a Standard (STD) model

all of that is correct.. And to further explain, your spindles ARE different than most other EF's, but it doesnt matter for this transmission swap, because the transmission side of the axles are all the same. your axles have a slightly different spindle side, but it doesnt matter. so the person you talked to saying you need different spindles is correct, if you are going to swap in a b-series. but for the d-series, you are just fine with the std axles and spindles.
