Subs in the trunk of a del sol.....need help
Okay, I have an Idea. I want to see what you all think. I have a set of P2's that I dont use anymore, and I was thinking about puting back into my car. I right now have a sealed normal sized box that just sits in the trunk. I was thinking about making a custom box for them that was hidden under the back mat where the spare tire goes. It would be a small box roughly 21x29x7 or 8. useing one or both of subs in the box, then making a cut in the mat to show the sub putting clear plastic over it to keep from damging the sub. this allows to be able to still put stuff back there and have bass as well.Do you think that it would work and sound good and not like crap? or should I just stick we a regular box which is 31x16x16. I mean I did the math on it and it says that a normall 12 in sub should be getting 2.0-3.0 ft cubed and the small box would be getting 2.58, but then again the one I have now is getting 4.59ft cubed. I just need some input please!
As long as you have the box built to specs and its airtight, and doesnt flex you should be fine. I think floor installs are some of the best looking. Im not sure if you could fit both subs in the well, its pretty small.
yeah, I think Im going to have to go with just one of them, but still thats fine with me. I just think that Im going to have trouble with the shape of the box more than anything, because its not really a normal square or rectangle box.
I used to work in the car audio business years ago and we sold the jl stealthboxes. I really liked the del sol enclosure.

I dont know if youve ever worked with fiberglass but it would allow you to fit the sub in there. Depending on the depth of the sub basket you might be able to keep your stock floor height. Search on google how to make a fiberglass sub enclosure.
