Default Ok, I really broke something.

If you guys remember my thread about me running over a tree log at 40mph, then this is a fallow up.

I got my FIRST official drive today and there is really something wrong.

When I have to take a turn to the right (90 degree turn) it seems like my left wheel isn't turning as much as my right wheel causing the car to kinda naturally want to hit the drivers door of the car I am turning towards. If that makes sense.

Also, if the car goes over some sweeping bumps it makes a knocking noise from the suspension.

And I have a little more "free-play" in my steering.

CV axles? Bushings? I dunno.

I think he means his car wants to hit the car door of the car he is turning towards when making a right turn?

if its a suspension part yeah. a midas that does inspections should do an inspection and charge you the price for the inspection less sticker. i have a friend that just bought a truck with alot of **** wrong with it, so to pass inspection, in pa, its 20 bucks plus 2 for the sticker. so for 20 bucks he got a list of **** that needs fixed before it'll pass. not a bad idea actually.

Possibly your rack and pinion needs a rebuild.

I would never pay someone to jack my car up and inspect it.
OP I am sure you have a friend/family membet that owns a jack. Sounds like you bent a axle or lower control arm or something. Either way it would not be safe to drive the car. Its hard telling when that thing is going to deciede to go.

you either need to go buy a jack or find one and get that thing up on stands and find out whats busted. do not under any circumstances drive it till you know whats wrong. broken suspension parts could mean your life if you try and drive it and crash...

Not really understeer. Understeer is if the wheel is turned past the angle it is willing to turn at. the one wheel is sort of being caused to understeer, but it is beucause of the drivers side wheel not turning to he same angle as the passenger side wheel the passenger wheel is turned to the desired angle and being dragged ahead by the dead wheel.

Clearly you understand understeer, props for that in itself. In this case though the word(s) you're actually looking for are "suspension geometry"

It's ****ed. The suspension geometry that is. I would be willing to bet midas would **** bricks if you showed them the potential carnage under your car. Look for yourself, get a friggin jack ffs. Compare the drivers side suspension to the passenger side. You should be able to tell what has bent if you look around closely and compare things. (don't take 5 mins.)

Take pics and bring them in to flip back and forth thru, full screen. See where i'm going? Self diasgnosis could save you alot of money here. Know what parts need replacing, then replace them, and have the car aligned.

I'm guessing tie rods and ball joint. Maybe some control arm damage too. If the axle was bent I think he would feel the off balance of it rotating. I second the notion to do a self inspection. They are going to to try and jip you out of your money.

ya they'll make up some bs story on how you'll need more, especially based on what already needs to be fixed. jacks make their money back in no time.
