I just put on my catback yesterday and its been smelling for awhile. I'm not sure how to describe it, it sort of smells like something is burning but I can't tell what. It seems to have gotten a lot better since the day I installed it.

Now I heard it's normal for a new exhaust....Is it? If so whats burning? When will it go away? I used a lot of pb blaster for the bolts on the cat and the hangers, could that also be what the smell is?

 

If you're smelling somethin' that's burnin', does it smell like a rotten egg or like pb blaster chemical smell. Cause, that thing will stay there for awhile until the heat of the exhaust pipes burns it off. Give it some time and drive it for a couple days.

 

Packing material inside the resonator/muffler. Should be gone in about 2 weeks or so, pending on how much you drive it.

 

its normal my friend the same happened to me when i had my exhaust installed, i m not sure what s burning but i believe its da new material it will go away. mine dnt smell no more.

 

Alright thanks guys. No rotten egg smell, I guess its just the combination of the pb and the packing stuff in the exhaust.
