TCM? Is that the same as an Engine Control Unit (ECU)?
I had to have the ECU on my '99 Accord EX replaced. Not only was the part absurdly expensive (you can buy a decent computer with monitor for less), but Honda has a certain number of parts (I do not know what other ones do this) which disable the car if they are replaced and it appears that only dealers have the codes and/or equipment to reset the car so that it will run.
Edit: Oops! OK, I got it, Transmission Control Module. You still need to check out whether it will require a reset by a dealer.

Confusion on this topic is perfectly understandable.
Up to (and including) the 1997 model year, Honda used seperate ECM's and TCM's for their products.
That changed with the 1998 model year where both the ECM and TCM were incorporated into a PCM (Powertrain Control Module).
And then there's the issue of the immobilizer; making it %$^# near impossible to swap in a used PCM if you don't know the donors VIN Number - nasty.
