anyone have any experience with going thru inspection??
i heard that you have to take receipts of everything and anything that was missing from the car when you got it from the auction is this correct??
if it is, i dont know exactly what my type R was missing exactly. the dude just told me that interior and motor and tranny not sure on the exact things it was missing though.
does anyone know what i can do o where i can go to maybe get pics of my R when it was at the auction?? o what i can do to find out exactly what is was missing??
any help is appreciated!

I've been through salvage inspection with my itr. Every State is different, so you will need to check with your state. Ny is one of the hardest though. If you know what insurance company the car was purchased from, they can give you info of why they salvage the car. Geico was about to fax me info on what was missing from my car and they told me the reason they salvage it[/red]. You don't have to stress yourself out by replacing everything with itr parts. What they care about is major body parts like, fenders, doors, hood, quarter panel and decklid. Make sure the motor has vins and the tranny have vin numbers too. If you replace anything make you get a receipt from a reliable source like the dealer, junk yard and salvage yard. You can use seats from a civic or motor from a ls integra. It don't matter to them as long as you have receipts.... Anymore question let me know..

I finally got my inspections done on my 00 PY ITR Shell that I put back together. I did it throught GA which was relatively easy. It failed the first time due to the ABS light not coming on, but I got that squared away with a new ABS Control Unit. Anyway, the process is pretty simple, I needed receipts of major items like suspension, engine/transmission, interior and 3-4 pictures of before and after. They like to see the car before paint, but with most Stolen-Recovered ITRs, they normally just need the stolen bumpers, doors, etc. put back on, not alot of paint work. The important items looked at during inspection: Uni-Body structure, head lights, taillights, turn signals, ABS light has to self-check, SRS has to self check (light blinks on and off differently from one another), seats belts, air bags, mostly safety related DOT items. Once they were done I had my Salvaged, unfortunately, title for the State of GA. They did not issue a new vin or rebuild number, I kept the same vin. I am keeping the car so the rebuilt title means nothing to me.
Good luck on the rebuild.

thanks for the reply
how long of a wait was it??
so i need to take receipts of everything ive put on it that it was missing when it was stolen?? my next question is how exactly do i find out what it was missing when it was stolen?? thanjk s
I had to salvage mine here in SoCal. All I was required to do was a smog check, taillights inspection, visual inspection by a peace officer or dmv, plus dmv fee's & surrender license plates. Wasn't too harsh, just haven't completely registered the car cuz insurance is up the wazzoo. & I thought a gsr was expensive lol.
The only one that can tell u whats missing is the insurance company. Remember they are the one who wrote the car off and declare it salvage. They have the paperwork of what was stolen off the car. The name of the isurance company should be on your paper work. I did this and they were about to tell me what was missing off the car, and the reason why it was salvage...
what others have said is very valuable, but you're best bet is definitely to call the local DMV as powerfulperformance has already said that inspections and such are really state-specific. GL... you look like you have an easy rebuild on your hands!
