do i need to BAR a sohc vtec in crx???
i have a sohc vtec and i need a smog and i am wondering if i should get it ref'd or should i just get a regular smog and see what they say???
you dont really need to BAR that kind of swap. i ran my Z6 89 hatch for a while and smogged fine without having to bar. here is the trick....ready....get a valve cover that doesnt say VTEC on it. worked just fine for me.
I wonder if this works everywhere?
I haven't been to a smog center in a while, but I think I remember the tech pulling up vacuum diagrams the last time I went to a test-only. Would instantly fial since the old engine was DPFI.

Most don't know what they're looking at. As long as it looks stock you should be ok. If you get the sticker for the vacuum diagrams and put it over your stock one that will also help.
But its still not legal. If they call you out try going somewhere else.

my old hatch was a DX, then i went to smog for the first time with the z6 and i heard the tech yell out "1.6L" then smogged it and i passed. no questions asked. even when i had my dizzy modded to fit since it was still obd0 at the time. lol
ight...if i take it to the ref will they give me a sticker for a d16z6 or will it be a sticker saying that its obd1 so i can swap in a obd1 b series down the road?

on a bar sticker i found it just says the year and displacement of the engine.. so putting a b16 in it would be no problem...right?
