Car Wont Stop Accelerating?
Some info on my Car
1998 Automatic Civic
Did a engine Swap
Car has been working fine until recently. I tried to start my car this morning and as soon as i turn it on it accelerates all the way up to 8000 RPMS. The car is still in park when this is happening and if i put it in drive it will accelerate also without me touching the gas.
Anyone have any ideas why this would be happening??
Ill take some pictures of the engine setup today.

ya check your floor mat. LOL
the floor mats that was in my 96civic had the corner shape bent around and it was holding the pedal down. so i threw that floor mat away!
simply giggle the pedal, and if that seems ok then look under the hood on the throttle body and make sure the cable moves freely back and forth. it might be sticking, either replace it or spray the ends down with some WD40 and cross your fingers it frees up.

when i first bought a 92 da, someone had them cheap a$$ ebay pedal covers on it and the back of the gas pedal would get stuck into the carpet lol..
what in the hell does that have to do with the throttle sticking open? ......now go sit in the corner for making a stupid comment
check the throttle cable, and the throttle body...something is causing it to stick open....also check inside the throttle body and make sure it is not too gummed up with carbon

uh when i did my ls swap i got in my car and cranked it amazingly it went straight to 7000rpm.. reason axle wasnt all the way in. stfo gtfo
thats bs to it happend to me get a d series passenger axle and put it in a bseries transmission and tell me it works i think i know what im talking about when iv done it.
it had to be a little bit more then that axle there is nothing there to make the rpms go up ive ran a motor with no axles just fine so i dont see what a wrong axle would change it would just make allot of weird noise and jump splines not make the rpms go up
Sticking throttle, throttle cable, throttle pedal, or vacuum leak. Check your vacuum lines; make sure none have come loose following the engine swap. Did you remove the intake manifold when swapping engines? If so, did you install a new manifold gasket?
You are definitely clueless.
you should of kept your glory hole shut when you had the chance, because you just proved how much you do not know about cars.....I am telling you THERE IS NO POSSIBLE WAY FOR A BAD/BROKEN/WRONG/IMPROPERLY INSTALLED AXLE TO CAUSE AN ENGINE TO REV TO REDLINE without the throttle being opened....just quit now before you get flamed by everyone that comes across this thread....goddamn kids think they know everything, cause they saw it in a movie
Is that guy serious? LOL In fact, I just got done putting new axle shafts in my friend's 86 Volks Scirocco. While I had the front wheels off the ground without the shafts in I started the car and put it in first gear and let it idle (check to make sure the flanges were in properly and that there wasn't a diff problem). Not to my amazement the car didn't redline! OMG! After putting the axles in I started the car in first gear front tires off the ground (checking to make sure everything was spinning properly) and wow! No redline or random acceleration!
I move for insta-ban.

best thread ever. i have seen a tire spin (not even hard enough to move the car at all) a little bit when its off the ground and all together. but that is the first i have ever heard of a car no axle's redlining. race car ftw!
Thanks for all the replies. I changed some hoses messed around with the throttle cable and the car seems to be working fine now. Only thing is when im in park and the car is idle the RPm jumps from 2000 to 1000 back and forth only in park. Also this only happens when the car is warmed up. I changed the TPS sensor and their seems to be no vaccum leaks
man im like 20 miles from you its people like you who make southerners look bad just dont post to any threads
